Wonders Cease Australian Women’s Fashion – Winter 2012First published on the Last Modified on the
Timeless Chic from Emma Fitzgerald and Maryanne Edwards
Emma Fitzgerald and Maryanne Edwards are set to take the Australian fashion scene by storm, with their up-and-coming womenswear label ‘wonders cease’, creating garments that are boutique-exclusive, financially accessible and fashion forward, yet timelessly chic. Emma and Maryanne, named one of their first collections ‘The Light of Darkness’, and following that the duo continued to play on variations of light that related to each collection. Maryanne says “each collection is just a new exploration of a theme we’ve worked on before. Fashion to us is light, just a bit of fun, something we love to follow but we know it’s not brain surgery.”
The wonders cease fashion label has continued with their light theme in their Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, entitled ‘A Matter of Light and Depth’. The seasonal offering, once again plays with the idea of dichotomy – sharply tailored pieces are softened with flowing underskirts or delicate blouses; voluminous swing coats are balanced with bodycon mini skirts; and airy, soft tones are juxtaposed with deep rich colours.
Minimal silhouettes gain their depth with texture, detailing and a inventive colour palette that includes Mulberry, ink, oxidised gold, lilac, mint and wintery grey. The collection has an overall sophistical day-to-night vibe and stand out pieces include, an oxidised gold cigarette pant with relaxed tailoring; a charcoal bodycon maxi-dress in a high-tech double knit; and a bronze metallic foil maxi skirt.
As with previous wonders cease collections the Autumn/Winter 2012 line leans towards the minimal, with interesting design details or embellishment forming the focus, with most garments being made from natural fibres and produced locally. SO without further ado we present the Autumn/Winter 2012 collection from wonders cease…Enjoy!
