Sexy and Edgy Womenswear, Inspired by an old photograph.
For Spring/Summer 2011-2012 collection, designer Kit Willow-Podgornik was inspired by an old photograph of St Kilda Beach in Melbourne, taken by her mother when she was 16 years old. The collection is nostalgic, yet has a futuristic edge – An example garment is the delicate yet vibrant print of a palm tree silhouetted against a sunset is teamed with lashings of black patent leather and shocks of electric blue – giving a masculine, yet sexy edge.
The hard, masculine aspect of the collection is balanced out with soft, shapely dresses in pretty peaches that are finished with beaded detailing. A sculptural dimension was added to the collection with structured crisp whites and tailored French tweed. The Future Memories collection was rounded off nicely with simple black silhouettes embellished with draped strips of metallic fabric.
So without further ado, we present the Spring/Summer 2011-12 lookbook from Willow. The presentation was created by a team of fashion and beauty allstars – directed by Julia Restion Roitfeld and photographed by Boo George. The team also featured ex-French Vogue Fashion Editor Melanie Huynh as stylist and renowned hair stylist Sophie Roberts for Tresemme, and Lancome’s leading makeup artist Benjamin Rouseau.
