Australian womenswear by designer Therese Rawsthorne
For the Spring/Summer 2011-2012 collection, entitled ‘Falling’, Therese Rawsthorne was inspired by Twin Peaks – the girl who wears the collection attends the high school by day, but by night runs wild in the bars and casinos in town. “I wanted to get that feeling that even though they are very different, they are still the same girl”, Therese explained.
The collection features cut-away shoulder blades, delicately twisted straps and panels of sheer silk for a tough of extra sex appeal. T-shirts were given stiffened upright collars, slubby, oversized front pockets and transluscent back panels, giving the wardrobe basic a stylish twist. Stand out pieces of the collection include the leather mini skirts with pleated silk inserts, the fusion of the classic silk trench with a leather bomber and a buttery-toffee leather singlet dress. The prints came in marble textures, contrasting with elegant florals, mirroring the double life of Rawsthorne’s muse.
So without further ado, we present the Spring/Summer 2011-2012 collection below.
