Tato & Memi – Women’s Clothing & Fashion
Tato & Memi Clothing – Women’s Designer Fashion
When passion and talent unite it’s a rare and wonderful friendship. Such is the union of Australian label Tato & Memi, which has been steadily gaining momentum in the local fashion scene. Combining years of industry experience with an astute eye for design are co-creative directors, Tanya Emon and Marijana Golic (see image below). After meeting at the renowned East Sydney TAFE Design School, the designers went on to develop their craft here and abroad with iconic fashion houses such as Prada, Carla Zampatti and Bracewell. A trip to India, however, was all the inspiration they needed to start their own label. Seduced by the eastern textiles and bold use of colour, Tanya and Marijana began to think about their own design aesthetic and the Tato & Memi brand was born. They are the perfect design team – Tanya, with her penchant for drapery and moulage, adds a feminine sophistication to beautifully constructed dresses and tops, while Marijana injects colour and texture through her love for textiles and prints. With a gentle nod to the great fashion houses of Europe, Tato & Memi brings a new style of relaxed sophistication to Australian dressing. Working only with the finest of natural fibres, such as silks, cottons and wools, Tanya and Marijana design for the modern working woman. Individual pieces work back with other garments, so the whole inspired collection is interchangeable and easily translates from day to night. With each Tato & Memi collection comes a new inspired story; original, in-house designed prints and a fresh colour palette. What remains constant is the silhouette – a timeless shape with a distinctly feminine touch. It’s a beautiful design philosophy, illustrating the perfect mix of talent and passion. Looks like a very cool boutique label – i haven’t heard of Tato and Memi before. Good to see so many Australian fashion labels doing so well.
