Inspired this season by the renaissance art of cameo, an inherent love of animals and a fascination with the macabre, Serpent & the Swan’s Spring Summer ‘10/11 collection offers an earthy colour pallet and signature handcrafted trimmings for both men and women.

Classic silhouettes, draped modal jersey and intricate detailing once again make up the collection of tops, knits, and for the first time, dresses. Understated upon first glance, a closer inspection will always reveal the true beauty of a Serpent & the Swan garment, and this season is no different.

A thoughtful move on from Autumn Winter ’10, new fabrications including textural slub wool yarn and luxurious wool waffle add depth. Mesh has also been introduced, and provides a diaphanous contrast to the textured, summer-weight knits on offer.

Hand made resin trims are once again the corner stone of the collection. Whilst the signature horse-head zipper remains, cameo scenes on buttons and rings illustrate deer or skeleton hands. Twill cord binding has been used throughout the collection and is finished with bear or dear head toggles.

Pleats, gathers and epaulettes create subtle drapes and changes in silhouette and are often fastened with beautiful cameo style scenes of illustrated deers and skeletons.

Black will always be present in a Serpent & the Swan collection, but stone, blush and apricot offer a lighter option for Summer. Signature trims are always tonal, with flesh and tin resin used to create a love-worn and old worldly porcelain or steel aesthetic.

Complimentary jewellery is found in the form of cameo deer scenes and wolf-head rings as well as a double headed-deer rope necklace.

Looking ahead, Serpent & the Swan will offer a full collection including jackets, trousers and skirts for Autumn Winter ‘11.
