Introduction to the Sara Phillips Fashion Label
“It has always been in my bones to design”- Sara Phillips
Australian fashion designer ‘Sara Phillips’ grew up within the textile industry – her mother owns the largest leading textile design studio in Australia, working with many prominent designers. So it was a natural progression for Sara to enter the fashion world for herself, studying fashion design under Nicholas Huxley at the prestigious East Sydney Design Studio. Starting her business while still in college, Sara worked for established Australian design houses Jayson Brundson and clothing label SABA following her graduation, before officially launching her own eponymous womenswear brand in 2007.
Her first collection, presented at her end of year parade and Australian stockists began to take an interest in the Sara Phillips label picking up the brand for their stores. Soon the womenswear label had the support of the fashion media, regularly featuring in editorials in the likes of Cleo, Marie Claire, Australian Vogue, Russh, Harpers Baazar, Cosmopolitan, Grazia and InStyle.
Just over a year after inception, Sara Phillips showed at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week for the first time and the brand continues to show its seasonal collections on Australian runways to much critical accliam. As of 2012, the Sara Phillips collections are available in selected boutiques throughout Australia, as well as being stocked in some prestigious international boutiques includng Hong Kong’s Joyce and Kuwait’s, Al Mutawa & Al Khatib. The brand also has an impressive online presence with their own e-boutique and the likes of Frockaholics and Maximillia stocking the seasonal collections.

Aesthetic of the Sara Phillips Brand
Using her signature youthful wit and drawing on an almost endless tapestry of childhood memories, Sara Phillips creates collections that express a modern, yet slightly unconventional take on femininity. Each seasonal offering is drawn together with several common threads, including print, soft tailoring and luxurious fabrications – soft suede’s, feather detailing and hand drawn prints often feature, helping to build a loyal customer base. Rejecting trend, the Sara Phillips brand creates a new romanticism for the modern, free spirited woman.
