Introduction to the Nookie Fashion Label

Australian-born fashion designer Nikita Sernack began her highly successful career in the fashion industry back in 2003, when she and her childhood Brooke Coleman founded womenswear fashion label, ‘Nookie’. Inspired by the eclectic Sydney lifestyle and a mutual love of street style, urban music, vibrant colours and exotic prints, Nookie channels the essence of summer fun. The name of the brand, Nookie, invokes the playfulness that the label has become so well known for, but it is actually a combination of the founders names, Niki + Brooke = Nookie.

The Nookie fashion label soon became a favourite of fashion stylists and magazines, regularly featuring on the pages of publications such as Cleo, Cosmopolitan, In Style and Grazia. The addition of the beach and swimwear, Nookie Beach, in 2006, furthered the popularity and international reach of the womenswear brand. As of early 2012, the Nookie collections were available through 180 boutiques throughout Australia, as well as being a successful Australian export being sold in boutiques in the US and UK.

• 2003: The ‘Nookie’ fashion label is founded by designer Nikita Sernack and her childhood friend Brooke Coleman.
• 2006: The Nookie sub label, ‘Nookie Beach’ is launched, translating the Nookie aesthetic to beachwear with fashion forward clothing and swimwear at a competitive price point.
• 2008: Nikita designs the staff uniforms for the Ivy Pool Club.
• 2011: Nookie Beach has its debut on the runway at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, with the Spring/Summer 2011-2012 collection.
