The Australian Fashion trio behind boutique fashion label Maurie & Eve caught up with Australian Fashion Review for another exclusive ‘interNETview’. Maurie & Eve

Q1) Who are the name/s behind the label? What is/are your backgrounds?
There’s 3 of us behind the label and it’s all a little twisted, there’s Kelly and I that have been friends forever, and her brother Scott, who happens to be my boy.  None of us have had any formal training, we’ve had the pleasure of picking it up along the way!

Q2) When and where did the label all begin?
Kel started Maurie & Eve a few years back in her bedroom, and in 2005 Scott and I came on board. Together we released Maurie & Eve Platinum, the label as it is today!

Q3) What do you hope to accomplish with your fashion label? What is the dream!?
Geezz…. EVERYTHING! We love exploring the different aesthetics of design, so anything from shoes and bags, to sunglasses could all be on the cards! We’ve just released our first bikini line for Summer 09 which we’re so excited about! We’ve also been lucky enough to be stocked in some of the best stores in the US, Canada, Japan, UK and NZ, so further expanding in these markets is definitely up there with our next steps. Something like NY Fashion week is a huge dream and would be totally amazing!!

Q4) If you could pick someone famous that best represents your labels style, who would it be? Alternatively, what famous person would you want wearing your label?

We have a few celeb favs that we would love to see wear the label; and I know it’s kind of obvious, but Mary Kate… LOVE love love her! Harley Viera-Newton and Alice Dellal are to die… to see either of them in M&E would be unbelievable! And little Pixie Geldof has amazing style, if she picked out one of our designs… ahhh how good!

Q5) Who are your favorite fashion designers and what inspires you?
Every season it changes… it always tends to relate back to music… A few years ago we went though a Doors phase, and was born the collection “All We Have Is Now”. It’s funny how you think “I hate the 70’s”, and 12 months later you’re obsessed with it! Right now we’re loving Galliano… it’s so over the top and so much fun to look at! Inspiration comes from everywhere!
