Australian Fashion Review Blog caught up with the Made In Earth team for a few words on its successful gemstone jewellery label.

Who is the name behind Made In Earth jewellery?

Made In Earth Creations’ Founder and Designer, Bunny Bedi, has always been involved in creative pursuits, having worked as a chef for 10 years before establishing Made In Earth Creations in 1999.

What does the jewellery brand specialise in?

Australian-owned Made In Earth Creations uses 925 sterling silver, set with the finest quality natural crystals and gemstones sourced from around the globe, including Australia, Canada, India and Brazil. Made In Earth Creation’s distinctive, handcrafted jewellery range consists of pendants, charms, rings, bracelets and earrings. The range encompasses more than 100 different types of gemstones, including Ammolite (found in Canada) – a rare, vividly coloured iridescent gemstone formed from the shells of ammonite fossils; and Rainbow Obsidian (found in Mexico) – multi-coloured volcanic glass formed when molten lava from a volcanic eruption cools rapidly. Each design conveys a story, from how the stone was mined, the techniques of cutting the stone and its spiritual significance. Each piece is original in design and individually hand-made, with bespoke designs available on request.

How did it all start for Made In Earth jewellery?

On one of his trips back to India, Bunny experienced nature’s vast array of exotic and beautiful gemstones. Upon returning to Australia, Bunny started selling his unique, handcrafted jewellery throughout Melbourne’s boutique markets. It wasn’t long before he became sought after by shop owners wanting to retail his product offering. Since this time, Bunny has developed a strong reputation for high-quality gemstone jewellery and has a long list of stockists across Australia and internationally.

What are the future plans?

Made In Earth Creations jewellery is already stocked in every State and Territory throughout Australia. We are also stocked in Japan, New Zealand, New Caledonia and the UK. We have just opened our first flagship store in Venice Beach, Los Angeles. Our plan is continue to grow our number of stockists, both in Australia and overseas.

What are some inspirations of the jewellery designs?

Inspiration for every design comes from the gemstone itself – its colours, characteristics and source of origin. Made In Earth Creation’s designers are always looking for new and striking ways to present these magnificent gemstones and regularly experiment with cutting, polishing and innovative settings to convey their natural beauty to the fullest.

Name the ideal celebrity that reflects Made In Earth’s style, or if celebrities have already worn the label – who are they?

Part of the beauty of natural gemstones is that there is truly a stone for everyone. There is something unique about each piece, whether it be on the surface or deep within, that can relate to the special person wearing it.

Made In Earth Creations already has a strong celebrity following. Sonia Kruger, Host of ‘Dancing With the Stars’ wore Made In Earth Creations’ Pear-shaped Faceted Rose Quartz Pendant from Madagascar and a Marquis Rose Quartz Ring from Brazil on the show in 2011.
