Modern Fifties Prep from Nathan Price and Clea Garrick
For the Limedrop Spring/Summer 2011-12 collection, designers Nathan Price and Clea Garrick took influence from a topical oasis. Entitled Calypso, the collection is inspired by the wealthy poolside scene and sees a modern take on the fifities preppy look with exaggerated cuts, silhouettes, colours and prints. The colour palette was vibrant with fruity hues of melon, lemon and tangerine, and the digital prints, including repeating dragon fruit and coin variations – bold and cheeky. The collection was punctuated with colour blocking in saphire and bright pink set against crisp white cotton.
Ice cream colours flowed through the collection in sleeveless shirt dresses and collared jumpsuits. Sunset shades of amber, stone and cream featured in skater, bodycon and shift dresses, while the addition of black leather and sheer chiffons added a touch of sex appeal to the collection. Silk capes added an extra dimension to the womenswear line and frill-detailing finished off the collection with a cheeky undertone.
