Renowned New Zealand fashion designer ‘Karen Walker’ launched her namesake eyewear label in 2005 to instant critical acclaim. Since then, ‘Karen Walker Eyewear’ has gained a cult following throughout the globe, with a sterling reputation for quality, originality, effortless cool and a sense of fun. The signature Karen Walker has attracted quite the celebrity following, with the likes of Rihanna, M.I.A, Alexa Chung, Mark Ronson and Florence Welch all been spotted in the brand’s frames.

Following on with the recurring Karen Walker theme of the ‘Outsider’, the Autumn/Winter 2012 eyewear collection is inspired by the furthest outsider of them all, Aliens. The collection, entitled ‘Little Aliens’ features 29 eyewear styles, with the entire line being focused on using high quality raw materials, innovative, modern designs to create a range that is unique, completely wearable and protective. All pairs offer complete UV protection, with selected styles, including ‘Harvest’ and ‘Helter Skelter’, receiving glass lenses, to provide exquisite clarity.

Stand out frames of the collection include: the over-sized round shape of ‘Iris’ complete with raised arrow detail; the traditional rectangle ‘Taxi’ frames which feature the signature Karen Walker filigree foil pattern on the outside of both temples and a tan colour with glitter specs; and the classic cats eye ‘Anytime’ frames, that have been exaggerated in both size and thickness, while still being completely wearable.

As ever, the band has produced an innovative look book to perfectly compliment the collection, conceived by Karen Walker’s Creative Director, Mikhail Gherman. The campain was shot in New York by renowned photographer, Derek Kattela, whose editorial work has previously been published in InStyle, Vogue, GQ and Wonderland.
