Founded by sisters Karuna and Kishori Purcell, along with their childhood friend Marnie-Claire Hilton in 2010, Jolie & Deen is a Melbourne-based fashion label that prides itself on providing directional, yet affordable womenswear. For their Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, Jolie & Deen continues with their signature aesthetic to create pieces that any discerning fashionista cannot be without. The collection features stylish tops in luxurious silk and satin fabrics, some with stunning ruffle or knotted detailing; chic skirts in simple pencil, bandage and floaty A-line styles; feminine and flirty dresses in shift, skater and midi styles; and a line of outerwear suitable for all occasions, from boyfriend blazers, to cropped tuxedo jackets and military style overcoats.
The colour palette is rich and luxurious, featuring vibrant magenta, royal blue, fuchsia, mauve, navy, racing green, mustard, rust and sunflower yellow. Prints also feature strongly this season with bold geometric motifs, Aztec and tribal inspired styles and ditzy florals.
Stand-out pieces of the collection include the Camille Skirt with its multicolored geometric print; the Monica Dress, with its midi length, cinched in waist and linear print; the Yanica Jacket, a stunning waterfall style and rich magenta shade; and the Miss Audrey Dress, which features the classic skater style and a vibrant tribal-inspired print.
