Dark, edgy designer menswear inspired by the Four Horsemen
Perth-based fashion label Jeromy Lim is one of Australia’s hottest up-and-coming brands, founded by the designer of the same name in 2011. Jeromy launched his label at the Perth Fashion Festival, where he was awarded with the Carton Studio Prize, that saw him undergo a mentorship program with a top designer and receive a free working studio space in Perth CBD.
A designer on the up-and-up, Jeromy’s debut collection was shown at the Perth Fashion Festival, where it secured a number of stockists, as well as winning awards, including the Emerging Designer Award from Sheila Magazine. The Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, entitled ‘Kings Die Like Other Men’ was inspired by something very dear to Jeromy – it speaks of the raw emotion of the loss of something dear, as well as the realisation that we are all bound for something greater…death. After losing someone close to him, Jeromy found it difficult to express or come to terms with his emotions – he became very destructive and the only way he could find to cope, was to design this collection.
The six look capsule collection is bold and directional and features ripped and distressed suiting, rough edged shirting as well as luxurious fur cape and shorts. The aesthetic of the capsule line is inspired by a post-apocalyptic version of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – the suiting and suiting has a strong equestrian theme, the fur pieces add a Napoleonic vibe and pirate pants, leather detailing and frayed edging add a swash-buckling feel. The whole collection is a amalgamation of Gothica, Military, Dandy and Pirate influences.
