Do you have the courage to wake up the beast inside you?
Injury is a menswear and womenswear label, founded in 2004 by Sydney-based fashion designer, Eugene Leung. Drawing from his experience in architecture and street graffiti, Eugene creates dark and gothic collections that are inspired by movies, surreal imagery and grotesque themes. The brand’s unisex pieces are meticulously crafted, with their innovative silhouettes and unique tailoring rapidly growing in popularity throughout the world.
The label continues with their moody aesthetic in the Spring/Summer 2013 collection, entitled ‘Underneath’. The collection follows the view that the things that you see, are not what they appear to be – you need to go deep ‘underneath’ to see the reality. For example, transparent linen rib cages are present throughout the collection to show the savage beauty of what lies beneath our skin.
As ever, each piece of the seasonal line is well-crafted, with stand out pieces including, the two-way jackets and trousers; tops with adjustable drawstring sleeves; and harem- style linen trousers that come in midnight blue and sandy beige colourways. The colour palette, as expected, is deep an dark consisting of midnight blue, black and charcoal grey, interspersed with pops of teal, rust red and crisp white. Prints play a key role in the collection – graphic animal prints, white marbling and red crystal shatters, all feature. The collection is finished off with a range of leather accessories to toughen up the casual menswear pieces.
