Gary Bigeni is an iconic Australian fashion designer, who launched his namesake womenswear label to instant critical acclaim following his graduation from East Sydney Design Tech. Having gained a reputation for masterful drape, sophisticated use of colour and silhouettes that complement the female form, Gary has presented his collections at Australian Fashion Week since 2008.
The brand’s collections are produced predominantly in Australia using natural fibres and consistently feature fluid folds, modest silhouettes with peek-a-boo flashes of skin, bold colour palette and vibrant prints. There is a continuation of these signature themes in the label’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, which features masculine suiting, cosy knits with dipped hems, leather statement outwear and of course exquisitely draped skirts and dresses.
The colour palette is typically autumnal, full of rich tones and hues including rust, navy, stone, tan, teal, ice grey, classic black and the odd bright colour pop of cobalt. Prints were a key feature in the collection with a large polka dot print featuring on suiting, shirting, and draped and shirt dresses. There is also a lot of leather withing the collection, with tough biker jackets, wide-legged shorts, leather panels on knitted dresses and skirts, as well as statement leather sleeves on outerwear.
So without any further ado, Australian Fashion Review Blog presents the Autumn/Winter 2012 collection from Gary Bigeni…Enjoy!
