Press Release from Dogstar

Off-centre Australian fashion label Dogstar’s winter 2010 collection is dominated by highly textural black and charcoal fabrics with injections of deep rouge, coir and aubergine.

Designer Masayo Yasuki explores exaggerated proportions through removable collars and voluminous necklines, layering with tights, vests and scarves.

“Exposed zips, buttons and clasps provide detail, while hoods and fluid lines simultaneously add a sense of bold femininity and mystery to the collection,” Ms Yasuki says.

Embellished fabric shoulders and diagonal concertina folds on dress and skirt fronts provide structure. Texture is added through looped cotton textiles, which Ms Yasuki says “redefines the silhouette”.

The winter ‘Tabi’ range explores the varied design use of Kohaze, the special feature clip used as a fastener in the famous Japanese footwear.

From March 2010 dogstar’s winter collection will be available in their three Brisbane stores as well as 60 stockists throughout Australia and 15 in New Zealand.
