Clean, sophisticated tailoring and sharp crisp lines from Australian designer Gareth Moody
Chronicles of Never is an iconic Australian street-wear label for both men and women, founded my Sydney-born designer Gareth Moody. Gareth first entered the fashion industry as a model, before launching his first label, Ksubi, with George Garrow and Dan Single in 2000. It wasn’t until 2005, when Gareth parted company with Ksubi, that he really came into his own with the launch of his own brand – initially founded as a jewellery label, creating matte and blackened silver jewellery, but once his ‘non-compete’ clause with Ksubi was over, the brand branched out into men’s and women’s apparel.
Each Chronicles of Never collection is an extension of Gareth himself, with a strong focus on structure and shape to create the brand’s signature androgynous aesthetic. It is this tell-tale look that forms the basis of the street-wear label’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, which features buttery soft leather outerwear, fine knit cover-ups, distressed denim, structured angular dresses; and raw-edged jersey tees and trousers.
In a departure from previous seasons that have been quite flowing and draped, the Autumn/Winter 2012 collection is cleaner, more sophisticated and a little older. The seasonal offering is a lot more minimal, with less layers and sharp, crisp lines. As ever the brand is working with natural fabrics of the highest quality, such as linens, silks and cottons that are sourced from all over the world, but all garments are designed and developed in Australia where possible.
