Chronicles of Never is boutique clothing, jewellery and fashion accessories label launched by Australian designer Gareth Moody. Where have I heard that name before one might ask? The simple answer is Tsubi (or Ksubi), the trend setting street clothing brand that dominates the Australian and international teen / young adult fashion industry. Moody is one of the founders of Tsubi who has (after 6 years) decided to release his inner abilities and launch himself into the fashion world solo, leaving Tsubi / ksubi behind.

Chronicles of Never started as a jewellery label, making distinctive bronze, matt silver and blackened silver unisex items, including necklaces, rings, earrings and pendants.  However, Chronicles of Never is now a fully fledged fashion label, offering men’s and women’s boutique clothing ranges, custom hand made leather shoes, and collaborative sunglasses (with Graz Mulcahy).

Chronicles of Never Jewellery has already cornered the upmarket street wear jewellery scene. Given the unique designs, colours and materials used, it is obvious to spot an individual wearing a Chronicles of Never item. Like Gareth states: “The materials I choose to use are old and real; black brass because gold is too golden, brushed silver, because polish silver is too polished, and black silver because it is black”. Since the brands beginnings in 2006, Chronicles of Never jewellery is stocked in numerous boutique stores throughout Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, including the world famous Selfridges.

In the initial stages of launching Chronicles of Never, Gareth had a time dependant ‘non–compete’ clause in his contract with Ksubi,  limiting his ability to create certain clothing items such as jeans. That has since lapsed, allowing Gareth to apply his knowledge and skills to create a full fashion line for both men and women. Chronicles of Never is now a brand of clothing (everything from jumpers to jeans), various fashion accessories (scarfs, bags, shoes and more) and of course jewellery.

The latest for Gareth and Chronicles of Never, is a sub-label named “Black Noise White Rain” which is already stocked in large retailers such as General Pants Co and department store David Jones. The second label allows Gareth to tap into a cheaper target market that is more mainstream that the boutique stocked Chronicles of Never.
