Please tell us a little about the Catherine Leon label
Specialising in women’s fashion, Catherine Leon is the designer behind self-titled label, Catherine Leon. Catherine Studied fashion at RMIT – where she was able to further develop her interest and skills in pattern making and visual merchandising. Catherine was then accepted at the Melbourne School of Fashion where she specialised in product development and design. Following her studies Catherine worked in various product development roles at Australian boutique Green With Envy and fashion house Inshop PTY, and then launched her self titled label, Catherine Leon.

How did it all start for Catherine Leon?
Catherine Leon was founded in Melbourne Australia in 2011. Catherine’s debut collection received an extremely positive response and was picked up by several stockist around the country and was also featured in the 2011 LMFF Up and Comers Market

What are the future plans for the label?
To continue building on the success/momentum achieved in 2011; to develop more stockists and an ever-growing following.

Name some inspirations and fellow designers Catherine draws inspiration from?
Catherine gets a lot of inspiration from art galleries – she finds herself particularly inspired by abstract paintings and graphic prints. Catherine also pays close attention to detail to the nominal elements of classic couture, artwork and even significant life experiences. Catherine has always been a fan of Willow, (believing each collection has a striking point of difference yet it still manages to maintain a classic look) and also loves the work of Dion Lee, a young yet directional trend setter.

Name the ideal celebrity that reflects your labels style, or if celebrities have already worn the label – who are they?
Erin Wasson; her style is edgy and fashion forward yet classic.
