An Introduction to the Beau Coops Fashion Label

Cooper spent time working as a shoe designer for Bernard Wilhelm, Eley Kishimoto, Alexander McQueen, and Ksubi before launching Beau Coops in 2010. The brand launched their first collection ‘Stand and Deliver’ for the Autumn/Winter 2010 season. The collection inspired by the place between poverty and decadence was well-received by the fashion industry for its understated ‘boyfriend chic’.

Aesthetic of Beau Coops

“Less is Sex” – Carrie Cooper, Founder of Beau Coops.

The name, Beau Coops reflects the coming together of ideas and styles that the footwear brand is known for – ‘Beau’ denotes a stylish man, and ‘Coops’ refers to chief designer and founder, Carrie Cooper. With each collection, Beau Coops aims to offer cleanly designed footwear that represents a lifestyle of comfort, quality and style. Made in Italy and taking inspiration from her former East London home, the Beau Coops aesthetic is what Cooper describes as “boyfriend chic” – reminiscent of a special piece borrowed and treasured from a loved one.

Beau Coops With Karen Walker

Carrie Cooper has made a name for herself as a designer footwear collaborator of choice. Cooper has had ongoing projects for Sass & Bide, Leona Edmiston and Bassike, however, Beau Coops most notable collaboration has been with Australian fashion label, Karen Walker.

The ‘Beau Coops 4 Karen Walker’ capsule collection was created for the Summer 2011 season and was debuted at Walker’s New York Fashion Week show in September 2010. Inspired by the 1960’s and the works of photographer William Eggleston, the aim was to design a shoe that feels as iconic as the product and materials found in the Eggleston’s photography. Influences were taken from formica tables, vinyl car seats and Hessian plane seat covers, to create a capsule that comprise of a sexy Margaret Thatcher-esque heel and clog style mule – the pinnacle of ‘Grandma Chic’.
