Womens Summer Clothing & Fashion by Amy Kaehne
The Kerouac Collection “This collection, inspired by Jack Kerouac & Beat Culture, is dedicated to the individuals who comply to social non-compliance in the age of conformity” – Amy Kaehne
Australian based Kiwi Amy Kaehne has succesfully entered the Australian fashion industry with a namesake designer womens fashion label. Although 2009 has been the inception year for Amy’s fashion label, Amy Kaehne has already been acknowledged by fellow fashion designers as one to watch. Her first solo collection “The Darkness Beyond” (Autumn/Winter 2009) was inspired by the New Zealand West Coast beaches, for its haunting appeal. The Kerouac Collection (Spring/Summer 2009/2010) draws influence from the 1950′s Beat Culture movement, which was driven by poet Jack Kerouac. Most beat generation writers and poets were struggling artists, who satisfied their whims by writing inspiring literature. Jack was particularly inspiring to Amy as he promoted the idea of ‘bohemian nonconformity in the era of independence & experimentation’. The Kerouac Spring/Summer clothing collection adopts a range of quality fabrics including silk, chiffon and soft cottons. The designs are minimalistic, with natural shades dominating the collection. The clothing certainly has an air of ‘sophisticated comfort’. Read more about Amy Kaehne and her namesake clothing label here –> Amy Kaehne Fashion
