Alex Perry Fashion Designer

Question: What does Australian fashion designer icon Alex Perry have in common with Georgio Armani and Jade Jagger?

Answer: A part from being established fashion designers, they are now also interior designers.

In 2008, premium property developers Ashington Group, commissioned Alex Perry to be the exclusive interior designer for their prestigious development at Ten Wylde St at Potts Point, Sydney. The development includes only 10 premium apartments.

As you can see by the images below, Alex seemed to have done a pretty good job!

Step ahead to 2009 and Alex Perry’s interior designing skills have obviously paid off, with Queensland based developer (director of Codwell Banker Property Direct) David Beard deciding to employ Alex for new apartments in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Bridget Carter from The Australian newspaper got some interesting quotes from Alex Perry in regards to the links between fashion and interior design.

“I don’t profess to know more than they (interior designers) do, but I do profess to bring my own interpretation to something’.

I guess what he was trying to say in a polite manner was that ‘hey, what the hell, I’m an awesome established fashion designer with tonnes of experience and success, so lets give interior designing a go because I can!’

Alex Perry also said “They (other interior designers) try too hard to come up with something new and forget that people live in these places”. A valid point, especially when spending multi-millions of dollars for a harbour view at Potts Point.

Fashion Review Australia thinks Alex Perry is awesome for taking his fashionista skills to a new arena. Not bad considering the rest of the fashion world is biting their nails wondering if they can keep their head above water in the current economic climate.

Good on you Alex, I look forward to seeing your interior designing skills blossom!

And for the record, the penthouse at 10 Wylde St, Potts Points sold for a record $20 million in 2008 (most expensive apartment to date in Australia) and is a massive 530 square metres!
